The crowd was taken back to the year 2000 when Dave Draiman and his gang performed “Stupify.” A haunting, acoustic version of “The Darkness” and their cover of Simon & Garfunkel’s “The Sound of Silence” filled Irving Plaza, the eerie yet melodic part of the set showed off Draiman’s vocal range as well as the depth and layers of the band’s talent as a whole. Speaking of range, another memorable part of Disturbed’s performance included a medley of Nine Inch Nails “Closer,” U2’s “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For,” The Who’s “Baba O’Riley” and a scorching version of Rage Against the Machine’s “Killing In the Name Of” with a guest appearance from Nonpoint’s Elias Soriano.
The night ended with the songs that began it all. Fans erupted to “Voices” and everybody was “Down With the Sickness.” Now that the hiatus is over, catch Disturbed whenever they are in town!
A band that’s never on hiatus and always out on the road, Nonpoint opened up the show with a forceful performance. Nonpoint performed a cover of Phil Collins’ “In the Air Tonight” and cranked out their own original anthems “What a Day” and “Bullet With a Name,” which got the crowd moving early on.
