Disturbed Receive Nod of Approval From Paul Simon for
‘The Sound of Silence’ Cover
When we chatted with David Draiman this past week for our upcoming interview, he stated that he had heard through the grapevine that Simon & Garfunkel liked Disturbed‘s cover of “The Sound of Silence,” but had not heard directly from either musician. That’s now changed after the band’s powerful performance on Conan this past week.
Draiman revealed via the band’s Facebook page that Simon had reached out via email and shared the email exchange with fans. “It’s not every day that one of the most prolific songwriters of all time sends you an email message. Allow me to share with you the brief exchange I had with Mr. Paul Simon himself!!!! Somebody pinch me … P.S., and no, this isn’t an April Fool’s joke,” stated Draiman setting up the post.
Simon stated, “Really powerful performance on Conan the other day. First time I’d seen you do it live. Nice. Thanks.” Draiman responded, “Mr. Simon, I am honored beyond words. We only hoped to pay homage and honor to the brilliance of one of the greatest songwriters of all time. Your compliment means the world to me/ us and we are eternally grateful.”
“The Sound of Silence” is currently the No. 1 song on the Active Rock charts. Meanwhile, the band’s performances of the song on tour have been a highlight as the group’s members typically take on different instruments while local string musicians accentuate the Disturbed performance.

Breaking Benjamin
Since its debut in 1999, this band has been appreciated by all rock fans who love their hard-hitting songs. It has already sold over seven million albums and has two platinum selling albums under its belt. A number of their singles have gone platinum, as well. And with these quickly accomplished goals, the squad is just getting started...
Disturbed
Formerly known as Brawl before David Draiman became its frontman, this band is also full of talent. It has released a total of six albums in its duration--five of which debuted at the #1 spot on the Billboard 200 charts. After taking a hiatus in 2011, the crew stepped back on the scene in 2015 with their new album, Immortalized.
Five Finger Death Punch
Looks like some band members are fans of Kill Bill. Their name comes from the action movie--and the band kills in music, too! Out of the six records that they've dropped, five of them have gone gold. They've also played international festivals, killing each and every stage they touch.
Foo Fighters
The Foos are the truth. Since the band's existence, four of its records have won Grammys for the Best Rock Album. It's even sold over 12 million albums worldwide. The Foos even recently punk'd their fans, making a video that made it look like they were breaking up, only to tell the world that they aren't done rocking just yet. There's a lot more musical greatness coming from the band. Just wait and see for yourself.
Three Days Grace
This band is epic. In the United States, it's first three albums have gone platinum, 3× platinum, and gold, respectively. Whereas in their home of Canada, the same three albums are considered platinum, double platinum, and platinum, respectively. This band from up north is a huge hit internationally. They smash every chart their music hits.
