Disturbed rocks the Orbit Room - Draiman

Disturbed rocks the Orbit Room

By  -

Chicago-based rock band Disturbed performed a sold-out show live before a capacity crowd at The Orbit Room April 8. Dedicated fans arrived at 9 a.m. to wait in line despite the non-stop snow fall.
“I’ve been listening to Disturbed since I was in middle school, about 15 years now,” said Brittany Baker, 26, who traveled over five hours from Manistique to see the group. “The lead singer has the most amazing voice. They push boundaries, but are not arrogant. It’s really hard to find in metal, somebody who’s not just screaming in your face but has a great message.”
Disturbed’s front-man, vocalist-songwriter David Draiman was nominated for iHeartRADIO’s Rock Artist of the Year and a handful of Loudwire Music and Metal Hammer Golden Gods awards, keeping the band in the spotlight.
After taking a few years off, Disturbed recently released their new album “Immortalized”. The band’s soulful cover of Simon & Garfunkel’s “The Sound of Silence” has garnered much attention from fans and media with the ethereal and nostalgic rendition of the 1964 classic.
Nonpoint has opened for Disturbed since March and will be wrapping up the tour with them on April 26 in Springfield, IL. The band originated in South Florida and has sold over 800,000 albums in North America.
As part of their raucous opening set Nonpoint electrified the crowd with Phil Collin’s 1981 quintessential recording “In The Air Tonight.”
Lead guitarist and newest member of Nonpoint, B.C. Kochmit, 37, Cleveland joined the band in 2014.
“You see us on stage, we’re having fun” Kochmit said. “It’s truly legit. We really like playing together.”
Teasers for Nonpoint’s ninth and newest album, set to release in Summer 2016, can be seen on their Facebook page.
Disturbed will return to Michigan for two shows this summer. Van Andel Arena hosts Disturbed as co-headliner with Rob Zombie at 7 p.m. May 24. Some tickets remain in the upper tier starting at $30. They will also perform with Breaking Benjamin at the DTE Music in Clarkston, MI at 6:30 p.m. July 26. Pavilion seating starts at $61, lawn seating is  $29.

Disturbed Rock New York City’s Irving Plaza With Nonpoint

Disturbed are back and their fans in New York City were ravenous as they packed into the intimate Irving Plaza. The band’s set began with a trio of songs spanning their career from “Ten Thousand Fists” to an older favorite “The Game” and the newer track “The Vengeful One.”
The crowd was taken back to the year 2000 when Dave Draiman and his gang performed “Stupify.” A haunting,  acoustic version of “The Darkness” and their cover of Simon & Garfunkel’s “The Sound of Silence” filled Irving Plaza, the eerie yet melodic part of the set showed off Draiman’s vocal range as well as the depth and layers of the band’s talent as a whole. Speaking of range, another memorable part of Disturbed’s performance included a medley of Nine Inch Nails “Closer,” U2’s “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For,” The Who’s “Baba O’Riley” and a scorching version of Rage Against the Machine’s “Killing In the Name Of” with a guest appearance from Nonpoint’s Elias Soriano.
The night ended with the songs that began it all. Fans erupted to “Voices” and everybody was “Down With the Sickness.” Now that the hiatus is over, catch Disturbed whenever they are in town!
A band that’s never on hiatus and always out on the road, Nonpoint opened up the show with a forceful performance. Nonpoint performed a cover of Phil Collins’ “In the Air Tonight” and cranked out their own original anthems “What a Day” and “Bullet With a Name,” which got the crowd moving early on.
