Disturbed Tease Explosive New Music Clip in Studio Update

We last heard from Disturbed two months ago when they checked in from the studio as they worked on their acoustic EP. While the status of that release remains veiled in mystery, this newest update suggests that they've possibly completed work on the EP and are making progress on the successor to 2015's comeback record, Immortalized.
The video (seen above), doesn't give away too much, initially spotlighting equipment including consoles, John Moyer's bass and studio microphones. Bits of new music can be overheard as guitarist Dan Donegan lays down a lead and David Draiman fleshes out vocal patterns. Toward the end, an explosive passage is played which features the full band, hinting that perhaps Disturbed are nearly finished working on their forthcoming studio album as vocals are traditionally the last element to be tracked before the material enters the mixing and mastering phase.

"We have this idea of disconnect — how technology has consumed us. We're stuck with our faces in our phones and not enjoying the real world," says Draiman, suggesting that this next record may embrace a theme or maybe it's just one of the songs. We'll find out soon enough.
Earlier this year, Disturbed revealed they were in the studio with producer Kevin Churko (Five Finger Death Punch, Ozzy Osbourne). It is not know if Churko is overseeing both the acoustic and new album sessions. As for the acoustic material, Draiman confirmed the release will boast both original material and re-workings of older songs.

Watch French Olympic Figure Skaters Perform to Disturbed - David Draiman Sound of Silence





When you think of Olympic figure skating, your mind probably doesn't go to metal immediately. But last night, the French free skating team - Vanessa James and Morgan Cipres - decided to bust out a curve ball by performing to Disturbed's cover of Simon & Garfunkel's "Sound of Silence," a move probably nobody was expecting.
David Draiman's voice helps to amplify the drama of what the team pulled off on the ice. His long notes coincide with twisting tandem moves, the two twisting together at the end of the exhibition. The pair didn't take home any medals, but they did walk away with a respectable 5th place.
Disturbed's version of the "The Sound of Silence" was released in December of 2015 and hit No. 1 on the Mainstream Rock and Hard Rock Digital Songs charts and topped out at No. 42 on the Billboard Hot 100. Last spring, following a performance of the track on the late night talk show Conan, original composer Paul Simon reached out to Draiman to praise him.
“Really powerful performance on Conan the other day," Simon wrote. "First time I’d seen you do it live. Nice. Thanks.” Draiman responded, “Mr. Simon, I am honored beyond words. We only hoped to pay homage and honor to the brilliance of one of the greatest songwriters of all time. Your compliment means the world to me/us and we are eternally grateful.”
The song went onto be certified double platinum, and with even more exposure from the Olympics, it won't be surprising to see even more sales in the song's future.

Disturbed release short video on Twitter showing them in the studio working with acoustic equipment

Disturbed have released a short video showing them in the studio.
It was reported earlier this month that they were working on new material, with the band saying in 2017 that they were considering an acoustic EP, which would appear before the follow-up to 2015’s Immortalized.
And in the new Twitter video, Disturbed can be seen working with acoustic instruments, with frontman David Draiman saying: “I think this should be different than it was last time because we’re coming in a little bit more naked, so to speak.”
Speaking about a possible acoustic release in February last year, Draiman said: “That's something we've wanted to do for years that we just never had the time or the opportunity to.
“So that we'll be working on between our LP releases. And then probably 2018 we will head back into the studio to record the next record and hopefully have a release sometime in late 2018 and hit the road 2019 again.”
Disturbed have two live shows planned this summer. They'll play at the CV Music Festivals event in Arthur, Wisconsin, on July 12 and at Cadott’s Rock Fest on July 14.
Further news from the studio will be revealed in due course.
